Feeling the drain of back to school? Break up your routine, and keep the merriment alive by getting tickets to one of Northern Virginia’s hottest family performances this September:

Alice in Wonderland
Sept. 6-28

Best for: Ages 4 +

Lewis Carroll’s classic tale comes to life in this musical adaptation featuring songs based on the original text.  Join Alice on her strange adventures in Wonderland with the cool Cheshire Cat, hotheaded Red Queen, quirky White Rabbit and other zany characters. The show takes place at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton with a running time of 75 minutes, with one intermission.

Marvel Universe LIVE!
Sept. 12-21

Best for: Ages 6 +

Favorite Marvel Super Heroes, such as Spider-Man, Iron Man, Hulk, Wolverine and more take over the Patriot Center in a live action adventure filled with stunning special effects and stunts.  See all the heroes and villains come to life in a show for the entire family. The fate of the universe depends on it!

Big Apple Circus METAMORPHOSIS
Sept. 18-Oct. 5

Best for: All ages

Unlike other performances in large venues, no one sits more than 50 feet away from the ring at the Big Apple Circus in the climate-controlled big top at Dulles Town Center. The world premiere of METAMORPHOSIS features amazing acrobatics, comedy, contortionists, balancing acts, trapeze and more. The show runs two hours with an intermission.

The Kazoobie Kazoo Show with Rick Hubbard
Sept. 20

Best for: All ages

Rick Hubbard’s dynamic, energetic show is filled with comedy, music, and fun. Every single kid will get a chance to join Rick on stage and perform. Plus everyone gets free, high-quality plastic kazoos to take home.  In fact, Rick loves kazoos so much, he bought a factory, and his Kazoobie Kazoos are one of the world’s largest kazoo manufacturers. This award-winning performer and unique show is at Jammin’ Java for one day only.

Under the Canopy
Sept. 25-Oct. 5

Best for: Ages 0-3

Imagine a theatrical rainforest world designed especially for babies and toddlers to explore? Arts on the Horizon targets the tiniest audiences with a show filled with colorful objects and playful sounds, such as whistling flowers, a clacking caterpillar, and bright umbrella birds. After the show, little ones are invited to explore the different props and objects.
